Why It’s Important
Entrepreneurship education helps increase students’ motivation to learn; enhances their self-esteem and personal growth; helps develop their problem-solving skills; helps them learn to manage their finances and, helps develop in them the sort of optimistic outlook and self-reliant attitude that will benefit them for their entire working lives.
It lets students know that starting and operating a business is a career option that is open to them, just like being a teacher, plumber, etc. This is particularly important for youth who may not plan to go on to higher education.
Research has found that 69 percent of high school students are interested in starting their own businesses and 85 percent wish their schools would do more to teach them how to do it.
